About the Origin
Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation show that the traffic accident rate for motorcycles is 26 times that of ordinary cars, a staggering number considering the consequences faced by those involved. However, the major accident rate for motorcycles is 2,368 times that of ordinary cars! In other words, if the driving time and mileage are the same as cars, one in every eleven motorcyclists will experience a major traffic accident each year! The extraordinary experience of riding a motorcycle, coupled with the high risks, has been a century-old dilemma that has troubled people for over a hundred years.
The accidental deaths of childhood friends and colleagues due to motorcycle riding further stimulated Zheng Chi's exploration and research into safe motorcycles.
Motorcycle riding is not constrained by space, embracing the natural scenery in the wind, the art of machinery, and the roar of the engine, which cannot be replaced by any other mode of transportation.
At the same time, motorcycles are also a mode of transportation with a high casualty rate. A motorcycle is not just a machine and a means of transport; it is a culture with a strong personal style and influence in the era of industrial civilization.
Riding a motorcycle is like sailing out to sea; despite the enormous risks, both ancestors and descendants continue to forge ahead. There is no shortage of motorcycle enthusiasts in any country, regardless of race, age, profession, or status.
In this era of advanced technology, can we create a truly safe motorcycle that is also appreciated and admired?
We have spent ten years seeking answers in the United States, a representative place of motorcycle culture.
We promote disruptive design globally, approaching automotive safety, with the quality of the whole vehicle and parts being comparable to the reliability of contemporary automobiles, inheriting elements of traditional high-power motorcycle style, reasonably priced, and with emissions several times lower than motorcycle standards, meeting the aesthetic and practical needs of motorcycle enthusiasts for large safe motorcycles.
History
In 1993, in Detroit, USA, the Luwei team led by Mr. Zheng Chi began to enter the motorcycle safety and emission pollution control system improvement development and certification industry.
In 2008, we began to delve into the conflicts and harmonies of motorcycle safety design and riding culture, brewing the creation of high-power motorcycles that approach automotive safety while retaining or even enhancing the pure riding experience of motorcycles.
In 2012, we began to work on this disruptive design.
In 2015, in Los Angeles, USA, we completed the first concept vehicle ROADEVER. This vehicle not only achieved our initial goals of safety and riding experience, but we also gave it unimaginable power and unprecedented reliability for motorcycles.
In 2018, Mr. Zheng Chi officially returned to China with all the self-owned technology and products, choosing to establish the factory in Chongqing, known as the "Motor City," and successively established the Luwei Development Design Engineering Laboratory and Luwei (Chongqing) Motorcycle Co., Ltd., with the concept of concentrating energy in one direction: to create every vehicle delivered to users as a durable industrial artwork.
In June 2022, after years of research and upgrades, the 5th generation Roadever motorcycle Weilan Shield was officially launched nationwide. Currently, the headquarters of Weilan Shield is located in Chongqing, with dealers mainly concentrated in Zhongshan, Guangdong, Changchun, Jilin, and Suzhou, Jiangsu.
Positioning Concept
At the beginning of research and development, the goal of Weilan Shield was set to "completely subvert the high risks of traditional motorcycles and change the conventional design that makes motorcycles difficult to handle," with a vehicle style that surpasses and shocks international big brands, creating a super cool and powerful motorcycle that can be easily handled by people of all ages and genders, showcasing what Chinese creation is to the world.
Appearance Design
The frame of this vehicle is made of stainless steel, with a standard weight of 595KG, a total length of 3.5 meters, and a width of 1.5 meters, featuring a front wide and rear narrow tricycle structure.
The straight waterfall grille design at the front gives this vehicle a sense of high-end elegance with a touch of antiquity. The body lines are not overly complicated, and the semi-exposed engine and robust steel tube structure exude a strong masculine vibe, powerful and shocking.
The large motorcycle is covered with carbon fiber, luxurious and stylish.
In terms of core components, automotive-grade specifications are used, such as the dashboard, engine, transmission, ABS anti-lock braking system, etc.
Power:An 1800cc large displacement water-cooled inline four-cylinder automotive engine provided by the Silas Group, with a maximum horsepower of 132HP and a maximum torque of 176N·m, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds.
Operation:Right foot throttle and brake, keyless one-button start, overall similar to an automatic transmission car. It is matched with a CVT automatic transmission, with gear positions arranged as P, R, N, D. The power is smooth at low speeds, and responsive and quick during mid to high-speed changes.
Steering:Using new technology for variable damping and variable torque electronic power steering, steering control is easy, stable, and effortless when driving on the highway.
Endurance:The latest version has a fuel tank capacity of 45L, with a fuel consumption of only 5 to 6 liters per 100 kilometers, and a range of 700KM to 800KM on a full tank, ensuring ample support for long-distance travel.
Shock Absorption:The front shock absorber uses a double A-arm structure, achieving high-performance handling. The rear shock absorber uses dual-gun shock absorption, with adjustable preload, providing an overall driving experience similar to that of high-end cars, comfortable and smooth.
Safety:In order to prevent injuries from frontal collisions, the Luwilan Shield uniquely designed an energy-absorbing crash structure that extends 2 meters from the driver's seat, and also added a hip seatbelt; to prevent rollover, it employs safety designs such as wide wheelbase, low center of gravity, large tires, lateral balance assistance, and oversteer correction. Both the front and rear wheels are equipped with Bosch ABS anti-lock braking system, ensuring efficient and stable emergency braking. If needed, a race-grade AP brake can also be optionally equipped. In short, the Luwilan Shield is designed with safe riding as its original intention, striving to enhance a good riding experience while fully ensuring the riding safety of the driver.
Today, Chinese motorcycles have entered a new stage of consumption upgrade, with more and more enthusiasts joining the motorcycle community. As a high-powered motorcycle that approaches automotive safety, the Luwilan Shield boasts strong power and easy handling, which is sure to provide an extraordinary riding experience for a wide range of riders, making it the preferred motorcycle for high-end motorcycle enthusiasts and long-distance motorcycle travel.
